Asbestos
Asbestos
In homes for sale in Montpelier, Barre, and Northfield, asbestos isn't all THAT uncommon. If it's in a house, it's usually used to insulate pipes in the basement, and occasionally you'll see asbestos siding on the exterior.
First, I'm not a certified asbestos-anything, so I encourage buyers to talk with an expert. Now, having said that, asbestos is like lead paint--keep it in good shape, keep it contained, and there usually aren't any problems. The problems are when it's deteriorating. That's when you might think about having a professional come in.
There are any number of strategies that can be used, from very simple to very complex. If you find a house you really like, and there's asbestos, it doesn't have to be a deal killer, just be smart about it.
